Held at Luis Muños Marin International Airport (SJU), the Community’s meeting in February hosted delegates from over 40 companies across the life science hub.
The conference aimed to further foster collaboration across the Community, with attendees networking with fellow members, and hearing from a series of speakers.
Presentations were given from Rotate, developers of the Community’s data dashboards, Secretary General of the DDEC, Manuel Cidre, and representatives from the Transport Security Administration (TSA), who provided valuable insight into TSA operations at SJU.
Aerostar Airport Holdings LLC (Aerostar), operator and manager of SJU and member of the Community, played a leading role in organising the conference.
In addition, Aerostar’s Sustainability Director, Jaime Pabón, presented on sustainability initiatives in place at SJU, of which there are over 65.
Aerostar’s sustainability projects are focussed on three key areas – climate resilience, water conservation, and energy conservation – with initiatives including solar panel installation, coastal mangrove restoration, and waste and recycling management.
Sustainability remains a priority for the Community, and Aerostar’s numerous initiatives, some of which are mitigating issues up to 25 years in advance, allows improvements across the hub without negatively impacting the environment.
